Twin Peaks - Season 2 Episode 20: The Path to the Black Lodge
Who shot Cooper in the season 1 cliffhanger? What about Bob? And after all, who is the murder of Laura Palmer? All will be answered in this final season as we follow idiosyncratic FBI agent Dale Cooper.
The final shot of the town empty and silent as we finally see the entrance to the Black Lodge is a great capper to a pretty good episode that sets thing up for a spectacular finale.
There's an elegance and refinement to the episode that can be attributed to Gyllenhaal's direction, and the result is a smooth and polished, subtly-stylistic hour.
For all the missteps and misjudgments made by the Twin Peaks creative team in Season 2, it understood what it had in the soulful, eloquent Maj. Briggs (and in Don S. Davis, the actor who played him).
