In the beginning of series 3, John, Lestrade and those close to Sherlock are reeling after Sherlocks apparent death and are trying to get on with their lives. After his return, Mycroft looks for Sherlock';;s help with finding a terror cell. The much praised, multi-award-winning drama Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, returns for an eagerly awaited third series of three, 90-minute films - The Empty Hearse, The Sign Of Three and His Last Vow.
After two good-but-not-brilliant episodes to begin its long-awaited third season, Sherlock returned to peak form for its finale and reminded us why we'll sorely miss the show during what will presumably be a substantial hiatus.
"His Last Vow" was a thrilling 90-minute ride that flung fans from laughter to terror to heartache and back again. The episode represented a return to form after the season's previous two episodes veered from the show's format.
This episode should win the underwhelmed around. A newspaper proprietor villain, hundreds of twists and a total dismantling of all that lovey-dovey stuff from last week. This was the episode the fans actually wanted.
It was like Christmas for Sherlock fans... The episode belted along, was neatly structured, and boasted not just the one jaw-dropping surprise, but a couple more narrative broadsides.
