American Horror Story - Season 5 Episode 9: She Wants Revenge
The plot centers around the enigmatic Hotel Cortez in Los Angeles, California, that catches the eye of an intrepid homicide detective (Bentley). The Cortez is host to the strange and bizarre, spearheaded by its owner, The Countess (Gaga), who is a bloodsucking fashionista. This season will feature two murderous threats in the form of The Ten Commandments Killer, a serial offender that justifies his actions in accordance with biblical teachings; and The Addiction Demon, who roams the hotel, armed with a drill bit dildo.
This week, we see Countess's true motives and her plans to enact revenge on those who've scorned her. Oh, and the escaped group of vampiric school children is still on the loose. But don't worry, they're doing just fine.
It's a battle royale between children and parents (and technically, grandparents) and since age over beauty really doesn't apply, it's a pretty good cliffhanger as we wait to see who gets the ultimate revenge.
If every episode of Hotel were as well thought out and entertaining as American Horror Story Season 5 Episode 9 just was, this season could go down as one of the best in series history.
The plot that had me crying for real though was Ramona Royale's explanation of her whereabouts for the past 20 years... I already loved Ramona Royale, but that kind of vulnerable gesture-by an immortal no less-spoke volumes of her character.
Everyone makes mistakes, but in American Horror Story's case, it seems like its own mistakes could have been solved with a bit more planning and foresight. There's a lot of holes left in this Hotel with not a lot of time to fill them up.
American Horror Story is a show whose heart has started pumping again, back from the seeming dead, and it's worth our time to try to unravel its humanity from its silliness.
