This character at first glance is an emotionless, efficient, robot-like assassin which is seen when he is ordered to finish the job Jason Bourne failed to complete. Later on in the film he is sent to kill Jason Bourne but he does not succeed. After Bourne takes down the Professor with two fatal shots the Professor, when telling Bourne that they both work for Treadstone, shows his human side that he has managed to retain despite the treatment he likely received (all of the Treadstone assassins were brutally trained as shown in the Bourne Ultimatum) when he was being trained. He comments on the headaches he gets as side effects of the training. He seems to have memories of having them while at night driving a car . Driving his car makes him seem normal in comparison to him being an assassin, showing maybe that he wishes to be normal again or to go back to his life before the Treadstone training. When Bourne asks the Professor what Treadstone is, in his dying moments, the Professor looks at his situation with Treadstone. He seems to realize that Treadstone forced him to give up his life for the training he was given and he doesn't think it was worth it. He could possibly think it was a waste of his life. Also, he says to Bourne Look at what they make you give. In the final film of the trilogy The Bourne Ultimatum, Bourne questions another assassin, asking him if what they make you give up is really worth it. This is possibly what Bourne picked up from the Professor, realizing the same thing. Show less «
