Sara Goldfarb is a lonely old woman, who misses her husband and her drug-addicted son,Harry, who she doesn't see enough of. She has no one to care for anymore. But she likes her life, she says. It's her dream that keeps her going - her red dress that she wore to her son's graduation (but no longer fits), her upcoming television appearance that has made her somebody important in her circle of friends that gather on the sidewalk, taking in the sun, her son as a successful businessman with a nice girl and a grandson for her. She dies her hair(two times to get the successful color of red) and gets prescribed diet pills in preparation for her television appearance.The television is an addiction, but so too is the speed, the diet pills that she takes four times a day (the blue one, the purple one, the orange one and the green one).SPOILERS BELOW When she calls the doctor she got the pills from, saying the dosage wasn't enough, they tell her its just her body adjusting. She ups the dosage herself, taking multiple colors together. She then begins to hallucinate the fridge jumping and growling at her. When her son comes to visit her and give her a gift of a new TV from macys, he immediately recognizes the 'diet pills' as drugs and warns her of addiction. She brushes him off saying that she needs to slim for the TV show and how proud his father would be of him.Her TV and pill addiction increases until she hallucinates herself on the TV, which then 'jumps out' of her set and her apartment becomes a television set which makes fun of her living situation. It ends with her fridge and the crowd yelling 'feed me' and attempting to eat her. In real life she runs out of her apartment to the company who contacted her to be on TV. They call security which take her to a mental hospital.The movie ends with her curled up in her bed, hallucinating that she is again on television. Show less «
