(by Dane Youssef)Bud is a sad, needy, self-absorbed man. A man who is the very epitome of the loner on a motorcycle searching for himself and for happiness along the never-ending road. Although he is naturally beautiful, deep and even hard-boiled in many ways, he needs love. Badly. Someone...He meets a lot of women on the road and helps them somewhat. They're not what he's looking for.Someone who is much like him. He is in dire need of the other half. We all know of the deep, brooding and cool guy from High school or wherever who always rode a motorcycle, wore a leather jacket and had a mystique about him.He wasn't just a guy who was too cool to be hip. He was a loner, he didn't talk to or really acknowledge anyone else. The rest of the world only knew of him and whispered about him. Who was he? Everyone enjoyed drawing their own conclusions. Whatever they hoped and wished to believe. When we first see him, he's running laps around the track on his motorbike. The camera makes it clear who he is.After his latest race, he prepares for a road trip all the way to California for his next race.As drives off towards California hoping to find God knows what, we see him staring off into the distance of the seemingly desolate, barren, windy road. When the bugs splatter against his windshield, it feels like time passing. Like moss growing, silver tarnishing, the leaves falling and changing color, like hair turning gray... The world is turning.Like a lot of biker loners on a road trip, he comes across a lot of colorful locals. He asks numerous people, women particularly--to join on his lonely self-searching odyssey. Women who are coincidentally, all named after flowers. Many of them agree, but once they get their shit together and show up to come aboard... he has already taken off. One night in, it seems that after a long, exhausting and seeming endless journey, Bud has finally found what he's been looking for in the city of lost angels. The blossom he has been in pursuit of since God... and Bud only know how long. Her name is Daisy. She takes Bud into an dingy room... and gives him the openness and intimacy he's been looking for.As he lies in bed talking to her after a night of sweet rewarding pleasure, he seems distressed. Almost in tears. One would believe a night of open-mouthed passion would be enough to break the dark gloom clouds away from Bud's existence. But there is still an overcast with the man. He pleads to her, why does she have sex with lots of random men and poison herself with drugs? Why? Maybe she can turn it around. But Daisy is wilting. Because.... Bud has arrived too late. She was everything he was looking for, but now.... Even though it doesn't always last, it's these crystallizing epiphany moments that stay with us throughout the course of our lives. And after it's all over... Daisy is gone like the spring mist.. And Bud is back in the car, alone... still searching for what's gonna fill that eternal emptiness inside. Looking off into the distance for...Well, what's out there?(by Dane Youssef) Show less «
