Albert Wesker is a character borrowed from Capcom's Resident Evil series for the film trilogy, finally appearing in the third installment, Extinction. His inclusion seems to be entirely fan service, as his role is relegated to the Chairman of the Board of the surviving members of the Umbrella corporation's hierarchy. His clinical, by-the-book approach to obtaining a means to ending the T-virus epidemic is opposed by the morally bankrupt Dr. Isaacs, which leads to the events that eventually destroy Umbrella's underground North American hub.Wesker's portrayal in the film is aesthetically spot on, with his trademark blonde hair and sunglasses(worn at night and underground). His personality is also very faithful to his iceman motif from the games, but his role as an antagonist has seemingly all but vanished. His theatrical depiction as a villain in a chair transmitting from a distant location is stark contrast to his hands-on man of action from the game series, being the primary initiator and mover of events that lead to the initial viral incident, even going so far as being in the field when special forces unit S.T.A.R.S. is lured to the mountain laboratory where the virus first escapes Umbrella's control.
