Born in New Jersey on March 6th of 1935, Shaila Rubin spoke four languages, including French, Italian and Spanish.She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Literature at Bennington College, but she also spent extensive time studying the violin and viola at both the Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio and the Mannes School of Music in New York.At the Actors' studio of New York she applied herself to Dramatic Arts, Speech for the Theatre, and Playwriting.In the mid-fifties she worked as a film-editor for CBS News in New York and then as Editorial Expediter for Esquire Magazine.From the end of that decade until the end of her life, she practiced as a freelance photographer -- with photos published in many European magazines.She has been involved in professional cinema for many years, often working as an Assistant Director, Location Manager and Casting Director for European and American films, TV pilots, Commercials and Documentaries.She became an Italian Citizen, had an office in the heart of Rome, electronically connected with the rest of the film world.In 1995 she was nominated for an Emmy Award for casting for The Bible: Joseph.She died in Rome on December, 15th, 2006.
