Lowell James Gerry, Jr. is an actor, comedian, writer and musician, known for Worst Enemy (2012), Black Money and Hawaii Five-0 (2010). Lowell's heavy metal band, This Moment Onward, has been earning local acclaim in Hawaii since 2014. Lowell is a versatile actor that has worked on stage since childhood and continues to pursue starring and supporting roles in Hawaii-based productions where he resides. He was cast in his first starring role in Black Money (2016), a short crime drama. He is also a published poet.Lowell was born on September 15, 1977 in Dade City, Florida, United States; his father, Lowell James Gerry, Sr., is a musician, artist and Kenpo Karate instructor, and his mother, Brenda Louise Texeira (Kelley), who is the niece of _Star Trek_ actor DeForest Kelley, is a figure skater, dancer and professional driver. Lowell is primarily of Scottish descent, and is also Lakota Sioux, Irish and Italian, and lived most of his childhood in Florida and New York. While in Florida, Lowell and his brother, Jason Gerry, both spent time in foster care as children. Lowell is also 4th cousin to American poet Robert Frost and direct descendant of U.S. Vice President Elbridge Gerry.He joined the United States Army in 1996 and served eight years in the Judge Advocate General Corps. He excelled in his military career, enlisting as a Private (E-1) and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) in only five years, he was decorated with commendations and awards, and even earned the coveted Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) during his time in 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment "Golden Dragons." Lowell was also sought after and recruited by 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta (Delta Force). However, his conscience, beliefs and political views ultimately led to him leave the military service.After serving his country and receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Lowell was homeless for a time and suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. He lived in his car until he decided to pick himself up and begin attending college. Lowell went to the University of Hawaii in pursuit of becoming a school teacher; however, his path lead him toward other endeavors.Lowell has tutored in math and reading at homeless shelters to assist adults in obtaining their General Educational Development (GED) certificates, he has taught English to immigrants and assisted them in attaining citizenship, and has even taught anger management and counseled adults in substance abuse treatment facilities. He has always been civic-minded and tends to do his best to make a positive impact on society through volunteer work.Lastly, to say that Lowell is creative and imaginative would be a understatement. Some of his art, music and writing is so provocative that it has enthralled some and incited creativity in others.
