Joseph Bartolotta is an actor born in Staten Island, New York, USA. He has two sisters and is the youngest child of Joseph and Isabel Bartolotta, a police officer and school aide (respectively). Creatively driven from a young age, Joseph's kindergarten teacher claimed he was immature due to "an overactive imagination". His parents dismissed the analysis and Joseph is proud to admit he never lost it.Joseph's parents noted his artistic nature from the age of 3. In an effort to nurture his son's inherent talent, Joseph's father demonstrated some concepts of drawing to the best of his ability. Joseph copied his father's examples with startling proficiency and quickly surpassed him.Although his parents were unaware, they had afforded him a valuable means of escape from a difficult childhood interrupted by sexual molestation and abusive relationships. Joseph would draw for hours on end, relying on the power of his imagination to create a sense of solidarity through the characters he would sketch. In addition to drawing, Joseph moved on to teach himself painting, sculpting and writing.Joseph first came out of his shell and discovered acting in high school. He fell in love with the immediacy of acting. To him, it was the evolution of all of the previous art forms and mediums he'd experienced. A local director took him under wing and mentored him at a community theater. The director, Joseph Gheraldi, a pupil of Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler, encouraged him to apply to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Although Joseph had invested two years at the Fashion Institute of Technology as an Illustration major at the time of his application to AADA, he went for an audition. He was accepted and didn't look back.Joseph is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NY) (2004) and the Academy Company (2005). He is known for Haber (2008), Transformations (2006) and Conclave (2014). Show less «
