A true southern Californian girl, Jennifer Taing was born in Los Angeles' Chinatown neighborhood. She lived in several Los Angeles County cities (including Glendale, Alhambra, and Monterey Park) before moving to the city of Garden Grove in Orange County just shy of her 5th birthday. In Garden Grove, Jennifer attended Clinton-Mendenhall Elementary School, Doig Intermediate School, and Santiago High School. In elementary school, Jennifer was actively involved in girl scouts (troop 1918), the school orchestra (she played the violin), and the school chorus. While attending intermediate school, she was involved with the school newspaper and was a part of the yearbook staff. At Santiago High School, Jennifer continued to stay busy with her school's key club, yearbook staff, color guard, swim team, and water polo team. On the weekends, she worked at her family's donut shop (Friend's Donuts), located in Santa Ana.Not wanting to stray too far from her southern Californian roots, Jennifer attended college at San Diego State University where she earned a B.A. in English in 3 1/2 years instead of the usual 4. She commuted back to Orange County every weekend to continue working at the family's shop. After graduating from college, Jennifer moved to Los Angeles' San Gabriel Valley and began performing supporting roles in student and indie films. Two of the short films she performed in early in her career were award-winners: "A Day as Holly's Kids" (CINE Golden Eagle Award) and "Petals in the Wind" (winner of the Golden Angel Award at the Chinese American Film Festival). In January 2012, she began preproduction on her first web series.
