The son of a surgeon, Pescarolo left his medical studies in favor of motor racing. Driving mainly for Matra, he competed in most forms of racing including Formula 1. However it was in sports cars that he made his name. He competed a record 33 times in the Le Mans 24 Hours, winning on four occasions. In 1984 Pescarolo and Patrick Fourticq set the record for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic from New York-Paris in a single-engined plane. He has since set up his own sports car team, Pescarolo Sport. Show less «
