Garrett grew up in Marysville, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. Garrett originally moved to New York after completing his Bachelors degrees at Utah State University to pursue a career in Management Consulting. After gaining three years of corporate management experience, Garrett decided to pursue a career as a Filmmaker instead of continuing on his management consulting track. Garrett's choice to become a Filmmaker comes from his desire to live a life free of regrets and missed opportunities.Garrett has always had a passion for film. During his younger years Garrett would always elect to create a video presentation for school projects instead of the standard essay or PowerPoint presentation that was always given. Garrett even won "Best Drama" at a regional competition for a film he produced, directed, and edited titled "The Wizard of Fog", an environmental parody on the Wizard of Oz to bring awareness to air pollution in the Cache Valley, Utah area where he attended high school.
