Eric Lateef Waters was born in the rough neighborhoods of North Philadelphia. As a child Eric was an artist, but after seeing "Superman" the movie and being convinced that a man could fly, it sparked a passion of becoming a filmmaker. At the young age of seven, he created his own company Waters Headquarters Productions. Under that name Eric would start money-earning projects such as, hand drawn comic books and airbrushed apparel. As a high school senior, Eric had college scholarships offers in basketball, football and Art. Eric chose art and attended The University of the Arts institute of Philadelphia. During this time he would also start his own contracting business, which supported him financially.In 2004 Eric was accepted and transferred to Columbia College Hollywood, in Southern California where began his pursuit as a film director. His first short film was "One Second to Say I love You". Throughout the time of attending Columbia College Hollywood, Eric executive produced a student film entitled "Nephilem" and worked in many different positions on more than a dozen other short films.In 2005 Eric wrote and directed "Superman Unplugged", a twenty thousand dollar budgeted fan film. This film would be the biggest student project Columbia College Hollywood has seen thus far, using student crew up to as many as fifty. Filmed in twelve days with Panavision's "Super 16" film cameras, "Superman Unplugged" debuted in the month of June 2006. On July 19, 2006 Eric showcased "Superman Unplugged" at the San Diego "ComicCon" convention which the film would be labeled as Fan Film of the Year". He was able to get copies in the hands of his mentor Richard Donner (director of 1978 "Superman" the movie), Avi Arad (producer of Marvel Character films) and John Favreau (director of "Iron Man"). This along with Youtube created a buzz, not only for the film but for Eric as well.While crewing, producing and directing many other projects, Eric graduated in June 2007 in the top five percent of his class. With making (Magnum Cum Laude) and (The Laural Society), he didn't stop there. Only weeks after graduating, Eric went back to work directing his next project entitled "Illadelph", the short version to the full length feature "Illadelphia", also written by him. Eric would go on to crew on major music videos and TV show's such as; 50 cent's "Candy Shop", B.E.T's "Sunday Best", "America's Got Talent", Fox's 'The Moment of Truth" and Sony's "Rules of Engagement". His latest projects to date was the pilot "Just the Two of Us", shot December of 2012 and the seven episode Comedy Web Series "Livin' N Noho", shot July 2013. Directly after he was hired to adapt the novel "The Last Greyhound" into a screenplay.In the studio world, Eric has worked his way from being a Production Assistant to an Associate Producer and would later find himself Assistant Directing (AD) an episode of Fox's German version of the hit show "Solitary". With more than five written and completed feature length scripts in his archive, Eric is committed and determined to bring them all to the big screen, all while taking on hired for projects.Eric currently resides in Chatsworth, California where he continues on his path of being a working director.
