Alex was born in Weehawken, New Jersey. Exposed to comedy at an early age, Alex began watching late night comedy at the age of 6 years old. While he was living with his grandparents in New Jersey, he became fixated on the comedic monologues of Johnny Carson and David Letterman. He was also entranced with such shows as The Honeymooners, The Carol Burnett Show and I Love Lucy. The influence of classic comedy provides the firm foundation to which he anchors his humor and story telling. Desi Arnaz was another big influence in his life. Alex, being of Cuban decent, discovered how a fellow Cuban revolutionized television by creating the four camera method of shooting sitcoms which is still utilized today over 55 years later.At the age of 8 he and his family relocated to Miami, Florida in 1985. As a child, he moved frequently and found himself having to make new friends quite often. Over a period of time, he discovered that humor allowed him to adapt to new situations.His major filmmaking influences are Edward Burns, Zach Braff, Kevin Smith, Quentin Tarantino, David Fincher and Michael Bay.
