Alan Furlan acted in films, and on Broadway. In 1959, he came to the small village of Elm Grove to perform in a play with the Elm Grove Players. He became artisic director of the Elm Grove Players, shortly after they moved into their own theatre, the Sunset Playhouse, built entirely with community donations.
